Reverend Sameh Shaker, Pastor

Reverend Sameh Shaker has served as an ordained minister for 18 years, including six years as an associate pastor in our Presbytery and four years as a solo pastor in Egypt. He is deeply committed to pastoral care, having spent the past 13 years serving as a hospital and hospice chaplain in the greater Philadelphia area.

Sameh is passionate about the importance of family and is also a trained marriage and family therapist. A lifelong learner, he holds two bachelor’s degrees—one in Theology and another in Philosophy—as well as a Master of Sacred Theology in Pastoral Care. He is currently a doctoral candidate in Marriage and Family Therapy at Eastern University.

He is energized by our church’s vision and mission, particularly our commitment to serving the local community—especially those who are rejected, suffering, or struggling. Sameh has shared that his calling to preach, offer pastoral care, and engage in mission work stems from a deep desire to create safe spaces where those who are hurting can experience healing and reconciliation in God’s church.

Within the wider Presbyterian Church (USA), Sameh has served as the moderator of the National Middle Eastern Presbyterian Caucus and currently serves on both the Commission on Ministry and the Permanent Judicial Commission in the Presbytery of Philadelphia.

Sameh enjoys watching and coaching soccer, traveling, and spending time with his family. He lives in Blue Bell with his wife, Heidi, a French professor, and two children, Adam and Mila.
